Getting colder...

At the end of last week the temperature started to plummet.  Even the new handwarmers that I'd made for MrCrafty had to be put aside for some gloves (pattern available here).

 

Beautiful, yet bitterly cold at the weekend in Balmaha.

From the top of Conic hill you could clearly see snow in the distance.  And when we woke up on Monday it was here!

I have a couple of secret craft projects on the go, hopefully I can share them soon!

Perfect weaving weather...

It has been a wild week here on the weather front. We have had clear skies, snow, hail, ice and today - Hurricaine Bawbag!
Perfect conditions for staying inside weaving. I finally finished my guinea pig tapestry. He is quite a cutie!

Merry Christmas!!!!

Have been rushing to finish Christmas presents, firstly cute catnip filled crochet mice for cats Bill & Marsha. The pattern is available here.

Last Saturday we went off to Falkirk to Callender house. As well as looking around the house and the working Georgian kitchen (freshly baked mince pie - with real mince anyone?), we also saw the Winter Warmth exhibition at Park Gallery. Some of the many highlights of the exhibition including tapestry weavings from Louise Oppenheimer. I love the movement of colours within her work. There were also intricate embroidered mixed media pieces from Midge Gourlay, as well as retro prints from Clare Nicolson and fun cross stitch from Miso Funky. Whilst inside in the exhibition, the snow came to Scotland! Here is me in the snow outside the house:
The snow covered ground is great for spotting animal footprints, check out these squirrel & bird prints - I wonder where they were off to?

Snow!

Snow, snow, snow! Winter has certainly arrived here in Glasgow. I have been out taking pictures, not of snowmen or cars covered in snow - but of bird footprints in the snow! I have only received one strange look, so far, from doing this. I think these patterns of footprints are lovely, and have put them on my 'to do' list to create something with them in mind. Though we should certainly spare a thought for the hungry birdies out there :(
