New Lanark

New Lanark is a special place. Robert Owen was ahead of his time, one of the founders of socialism and the cooperative movement. His influence can be seen today in education, health, well-being and workers rights. The Falls of Clyde are as magnificent today as there were when Turner and Wordsworth viewed them. A very inspiring visit.

  1. One of my favourite places in the world - on my tenth or so visit I got chatting to a really interesting man, and a few visits later, we got married there.

  2. I'd love to go to New Lanark -- I must get my act together. (I remember being a revolting mob all by myself in a radical piece of theatre about Robt. Owen years ago - hmm...)

Last Wonderwool I bought some bright red New Lanark wool with which to celebrate (?) the forthcoming election, and then hurt my hand and couldn't knit. Only just recovered - and my New Lanark sweater is done. But it's 22 degrees. Hmm again.
